Google Groups Settings API is part of Google Workspace Admin SDK and lets administrators retrieve and modify settings for existing Google Groups. It is used to manage permissions, moderation, posting, and related group configuration.

In the Google Cloud Console Credentials page, create a project if needed, enable the Groups Settings API, configure the OAuth consent screen, then create an OAuth 2.0 Client ID. Request the scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/apps.groups.settings when obtaining user access tokens for this API. Google Workspace docs list credential creation under Create access credentials.
Create a service account in the Google Cloud Console Service Accounts page, enable domain-wide delegation for it, then have a Google Workspace admin authorize the service account's client ID and the scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/apps.groups.settings in the Admin console as described in Delegate domain-wide authority. Use the service account to mint OAuth 2.0 access tokens impersonating a Workspace user.
