DGFT is the Government of India’s Directorate General of Foreign Trade, which manages importer-exporter registration and related foreign-trade services. Its online services include IEC verification and eBRC workflows for exporters.
DGFT exposes two documented HTTP API surfaces for developers: an IEC verification API published via ApiSetu/OpenAPI and an eBRC integration API documented in DGFT PDFs; both require DGFT-issued credentials.

Log in to the DGFT portal at DGFT, go to Services → eBRC → API Credential, then choose Generate credential. DGFT registers the user for API usage and provides a one-time downloadable credential file; exporters can later regenerate the secret key if needed. The guide says you must be a registered DGFT user linked to an IEC, and you must provide the public IP address from which API calls will be made so DGFT can allowlist it. The technical spec says the credential file expires and only one active credential is allowed at a time.
