Descript is an audio and video editing platform with AI-assisted editing, transcription, publishing, and collaboration features. It is used to create and edit podcasts, videos, captions, clips, and other media projects.
descript.com exposes a bearer-token HTTP API at `https://descriptapi.com/v1`, an OAuth-protected MCP server at `https://api.descript.com/v2/mcp`, and an npm-distributed `descript-api` CLI that uses the same API token.

In Descript, open Settings and select API tokens. Click Create token, give it a name, choose the Descript Drive it should be tied to, then create it. Copy the token immediately and store it safely; Descript says you can't view it again later, so if you lose it you'll need to mint a new one. For the Descript MCP, the MCP client/AI assistant starts the OAuth flow for you. Add the Descript MCP server URL https://api.descript.com/v2/mcp in your MCP-compatible assistant, then sign in to Descript in the browser and click Allow. Descript's docs say no API token is needed, and the connection attaches to the Descript Drive you're currently logged into. See the custom MCP setup guide and MCP overview.
