Sign in to the xAI Console, then open API Keys and create an API key. Use it as a bearer token in the Authorization header: Bearer <your xAI API key>.

xAI mTLS client certificate and private key compound

mTLS is an enterprise feature. Email support@x.ai with your team ID from the xAI Console, your CA certificate in PEM format, and the Common Name (CN) your client certificates use. After xAI enables mTLS for your team, use your client certificate and private key on requests to https://mtls.api.x.ai alongside a normal xAI API key.
