Mux provides infrastructure for online video, including video upload, encoding, streaming, live streaming, playback, and video analytics. Its platform is used by developers to manage video assets and measure playback performance.
Mux exposes a REST API at `https://api.mux.com`, a hosted MCP server at `https://mcp.mux.com`, and the `mux` CLI; the API and CLI use Mux access tokens, while the hosted MCP server uses Mux Dashboard OAuth authorization.

In the Mux Dashboard, go to Settings → Access Tokens, create an access token for the target environment, and save both the Access Token ID and Access Token Secret. Use read/write permissions as needed; creating or modifying Video resources needs Video read/write, Data annotations need Data write, and creating signing keys needs System write. The secret is shown once and cannot be recovered later.
Configure the hosted MCP server at https://mcp.mux.com in your MCP client. The client will start authentication automatically, prompting you to sign in at Mux Dashboard and choose which environment to authorize for the connection. This is the documented auth path for the hosted MCP server; no dashboard access token needs to be copied manually.
