Authorization: Basic <credential>

Sign in to your Mailchimp account and open the API keys page. Click Create A Key/Generate API Key in Mailchimp, copy the key, and store it securely. The key includes your data center suffix, e.g. ...-us6, which you use to determine the <dc> in https://<dc>.api.mailchimp.com/3.0/. See Fundamentals and About API Keys.

In Mailchimp, open the Registered Apps page, click Register An App, fill out the form, and create the app. Mailchimp then shows your client_id and client_secret; copy the secret immediately because Mailchimp only shows it once. Use this app to run the OAuth 2 authorization-code flow described in the OAuth guide.
