Inline is a work chat product for teams. It provides messaging, bots, and assistant-oriented integrations around conversations, spaces, and direct messages.
inline.chat exposes a Bot HTTP API on api.inline.chat, a hosted OAuth-protected MCP server on mcp.inline.chat, a CLI, and owner-declared additional HTTP/Realtime surfaces; the Bot API and MCP are documented, while a second HTTP API is only owner-declared and not fully documented for developer auth.

Create a bot token from Creating a Bot: in the macOS app go to Inline -> Settings… → Bots, create a bot, and copy the New Token; or use the CLI by first running inline auth login, then inline bots create ... and inline bots reveal-token --bot-user-id <BOT_USER_ID>. For the CLI itself, the primary interactive path is inline auth login; INLINE_TOKEN is a non-interactive fallback mentioned by the owner declaration.
Point your MCP client at the server URL and approve access in the browser. The server supports OAuth Dynamic Client Registration (RFC 7591), so the client registers itself automatically — no developer-portal app, client_id, or client_secret to create.
