Create or select a project in the Google Cloud console and enable the Indexing API using the setup tool. Register your application in the Google API Console / Google Cloud console to get a client_id and client_secret, then run the appropriate Google OAuth 2.0 flow and request scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/indexing to obtain an access token. The authorization guide says no other authorization protocols are supported.

In the Service accounts page, create a service account, create and download a JSON key, then add that service account as an owner of your verified site property in Search Console as described in the prerequisites. Use the service account key to mint an OAuth 2.0 access token with scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/indexing.
