In the GrowthBook app, open API Keys from Settings and create a New Secret Key. The docs say this key is used for the REST API, CLI, and MCP server. For self-hosted instances, use the equivalent API keys page in your own GrowthBook app.

In the GrowthBook app, go to API Keys. The MCP docs state GB_API_KEY may be a GrowthBook API key or PAT; create a personal token there if your workspace exposes that option. Use it where the docs ask for GB_API_KEY. For self-hosted instances, use your own app's API keys settings page.
