Sign in at GroupMe Developers with your GroupMe account, then create an application from Applications. The auth guide says you can get a client ID from Create Application. Send users to https://oauth.groupme.com/oauth/authorize?client_id=CLIENT_ID; after the user approves, GroupMe redirects to your registered HTTPS callback URL with access_token in the URL fragment/query as documented. Use that access token in the X-Access-Token header for API calls.

Create a bot from the bot creation form or programmatically via the Bots tutorial. The tutorial states that after POST https://api.groupme.com/v3/bots with your X-Access-Token, GroupMe returns a bot_id; save that value and use it to send bot messages to https://api.groupme.com/v3/bots/post.
