In the Fivetran dashboard, open User API Config to create a scoped API key tied to your user account. Use the resulting key and secret together; the docs say requests use the Base64-encoded key and secret, and access is limited by your RBAC permissions. The REST API getting started guide recommends a scoped API key.

Authorization: Basic <credential>

Create a system key either in the dashboard at System Keys via Account settings → General → System Keys, or via the REST API's Create System Key endpoint. System keys can only be managed with user keys, and the user must have the Account Administrator role. Use the key and secret together.
