Primary path: run driftless login from the CLI setup docs, which opens the Driftless dashboard so you can copy an API key. You can also create or revoke keys in the dashboard under Settings → API Keys at app.driftless.icu. Keys are shown once at creation time and use the drift_ prefix.

For MCP clients, Driftless supports self-onboarding OAuth 2.0 with dynamic client registration: the MCP client registers itself at POST /oauth/register, sends you to Driftless consent, and then exchanges the code for a token. The easiest path is simply to connect Driftless from an MCP-capable client such as Claude or ChatGPT and approve access in the browser. Relevant docs: MCP & OAuth and Security.
