Use a Google Cloud project with the Document AI API enabled via Document AI setup. Then authenticate with a Google account or service account and obtain an access token, for example with the Google Cloud CLI (gcloud auth login for a user or gcloud auth application-default login / a service account as described in the setup and request guides). The API methods in the discovery document require the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/cloud-platform scope.

In the Google Cloud Console, open APIs & Services > Credentials, create an API key, and enable the Document AI API for your project as shown in Document AI setup. The Document AI discovery document says the key query parameter is accepted and is required unless you provide an OAuth 2.0 token.
