Authentication

Authorization: Bearer <credential> /?access_token=<credential>

In your Directus project’s Data Studio, open the user you want to authenticate as and generate a token in the Token field, then save the user. For MCP, Directus recommends creating a dedicated user first via User Directory and generating that user’s token. See Access Tokens and MCP Installation.

Authorization: Bearer <credential> /Cookie: <credential>

Log in to your Directus project with a user account via the Directus auth flow. A login to /auth/login returns an access_token and refresh_token, or you can request mode=session to receive a directus_session_token cookie. See Authenticate a User and Access Tokens.
