In Datadog, go to Organization Settings > API Keys, click New Key, enter a name, and create the key. Datadog documents that API keys are organization-wide and are required by the Agent to submit metrics and events; many API calls also use them together with an application key.

Datadog application key api_key Get key ↗

In Datadog, open Organization Settings > Application Keys and create an application key. Datadog states application keys are used together with your organization's API key to access Datadog's programmatic API. Scope the key to the minimum permissions needed; some APIs such as Actions APIs also require enabling Actions API access on the application key.
