AWS China is the China-region deployment of Amazon Web Services, offering cloud infrastructure and platform services in the Beijing and Ningxia regions. It uses separate China-specific accounts, credentials, and service endpoints from other AWS regions.

AWS China exposes region- and service-specific HTTPS APIs under `*.amazonaws.com.cn` plus the AWS CLI; API requests use AWS SigV4/SigV4a with AWS China credentials, and the CLI can use either access keys or IAM Identity Center login.

Credentials
AWS China programmatic credentials (access key ID + secret access key, optionally session token)compoundGet key ↗

Sign up for an AWS China account via AWS China signup and create programmatic access credentials in IAM as described in Using Amazon security credentials for programmatic access. For long-term access, create an access key pair (aws_access_key_id + aws_secret_access_key). For temporary credentials, obtain short-term credentials that include aws_access_key_id, aws_secret_access_key, and aws_session_token. AWS signs API requests with SigV4/SigV4a using these values.

AWS IAM Identity Center session for CLIoauth2$ aws configure sso && aws sso login

Acquired by the CLI — running aws configure sso && aws sso login opens the auth flow and stores the credential.
